Cleaning the pelvis skin

If PPH has been used, start by cleaning the blood tubing before removing the pelvis skin.

Before starting, make sure that:

  • The abdomen is open

  • Both the uterus and baby are removed

CAUTION

Make sure the cloth is completely dry before using it around electronics.

NOTE

Make sure there is no fluid accumulated in the simulator under the skin. Use a paper towel to clean the area.

  1. Pull up the leg latches on both sides of the pelvis and remove the legs.

  2. Remove the two thumb screws holding the perineum retention ring.

  3. Remove the retention ring.

  4. Remove the eight plugs holding the pelvis skin.

  5. Detach the fluid valve located behind the urethra.

  6. Unzip the pelvis skin from the simulator.

  7. Lift the pelvis and detach the perineum from the simulator.

  8. Clean the pelvis skin with water at the sink. Allow to air dry.

  9. Put the pelvis skin back.

  10. Zip the pelvis skin.

  11. Attach the urethra plug.

    Note

Make sure the plug is tightly secured to the bladder so the urine doesn't leak inside the Patient Simulator during a scenario.

  12. Put the retention ring back.

  13. Press down hard on the retention ring to align the thumb screws before screwing.

  14. Place the two thumb screws back.
